The brand need

Bobo set out to reimagine the traditional bobo lamp — a familiar fixture in Ghanaian homes — as a premium scented candle for a modern audience. The identity had to feel distinctly Ghanaian and quietly premium at once: warm and rooted enough to nod to heritage, yet confident and contemporary enough to hold its own on a design-conscious shelf across a growing range of scents.

The solution

A premium scented-candle brand that reimagines the traditional bobo lamp for the modern Ghanaian home.

Bobo's candle boxes across six scents, each in a different colourway with the wordmark on the lid.
One box structure, six scent colourways — the range stays recognisable on any shelf.
The Bobo Candles Instagram profile shown on a phone in a styled green interior.
Social templates carry the identity into feed and story formats.
Three Bobo posters: 'New Collection Coming Soon', 'Our Candles Don't Burn, They Bloom Fragrance', and 'Proudly Made in Ghana'.
Campaign posters lean on the wordmark, warm colour and a hand-drawn line motif.
Bobo secondary packaging and a branded canvas tote — orange candle boxes and a monogrammed tote shot outdoors.
Merch and secondary packaging extend the system beyond the candle itself.

Process

  1. Step 01 A wordmark with warmth

The identity is built around a custom Bobo wordmark — soft, curved letterforms that feel handmade and inviting — paired with a compact monogram for small applications like lids, stamps and social avatars.

  2. Step 02 A colour system for scent

Rather than one fixed palette, each scent gets its own grounded colourway — deep navy, oxblood, olive, terracotta, cream — over a shared box structure, so the range reads as one family while every variant stays instantly distinguishable.

  3. Step 03 Rooted, elevated art direction

Photography places the candles in warm, lived-in interiors — firelight, plants, soft evening light — to sell the ritual, not just the product, and to keep the modern Ghanaian home at the centre of the story.

Outcome

The result is a flexible identity that scales from a single lid stamp to a full campaign without losing its character. The wordmark, monogram and scent-led colour system give Bobo a shelf presence that feels premium and unmistakably its own — with packaging, social and merch all drawing from one visual language.
